    Growing up an hour from Los Angeles in Southern California, my husband and I had many hot dog cart street dogs.     Step1

    Slice the bell pepper, onion, and jalapeños lengthwise into thin strips.

    Wrap each hot dog with a slice of bacon and secure it with a toothpick.

    Step3

    Preheat a flat griddle or large frying pan over medium‑high heat. Add the bacon‑wrapped hot dogs and let a little bacon grease render, then add the sliced vegetables to the pan.

    Step4

    While the hot dogs and vegetables cook, mash the avocados.

    Step5

    Once the hot dogs are fully cooked, remove the toothpicks and place the hot dogs into the buns.

    Step6

    Add the mashed avocado to the hot dogs.

    Step7

    Next, add the onions, bell peppers, and sliced jalapeños.

    Step8

    Finish with a back‑and‑forth squeeze of ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise.
